Here at Casseus Law, we cannot stress the importance of strong letters of recommendation for your National Interest Waiver petitions. In our most recent case approvals, we were successful in working with our client to obtain strong letters of recommendation. Here are a few tips:

Identify the “superstars” in your field. These are the folks who have won all of the awards in your field, they have written hundreds of articles, everyone knows them. Having superstars write about the importance of your work and their knowledge of your work will help put you in the best position possible to be approved by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Ensure that at least half of your letters are written by independent experts (IEs). IEs are people who have not worked with you personally; however, they are familiar with your work.

Make sure that your letters speak to your unique past achievements and skills. It is important that all of your letters of recommendation paint a picture of your past and present influence.

Ask ahead of time! If you know that your H1-B status will end in nine months, make sure you ask your recommenders ahead of time to write you letters. Recommenders are busy people. They are writing books, attending conferences, and doing things that make them the powerhouses that they are. They do not like to be put under pressure by individuals who are desperate to get their application in on time.

At Casseus Law, we pride ourselves in helping you to prepare and submit your I-140 application in a timely manner. Contact us today to get the process started!
